Why Moon and Meadow Exists
For about fifteen years, I barely created anything for myself.
Life was full. Raising a family, caring for others, managing responsibilities, and making sure everyone had what they needed filled my days. Like so many women, I convinced myself that my creative interests could wait until someday.
And for a long time, they did.
The truth is, I didn’t completely stop being creative. I made things with my children, encouraged their interests, and found little ways to bring creativity into everyday life. But the part of me that loved to paint, draw, and create simply because it brought me joy had been pushed aside.
I didn’t realize how much I missed it until I started feeling empty.
I wasn’t enjoying the things I was doing anymore. On the surface, everything looked fine, but something felt missing. There was a quiet restlessness that I couldn’t ignore.
Then one of my daughters began creating art regularly.
Watching her paint stirred something in me.
I saw the excitement she felt. The joy. The freedom. And it reminded me of a part of myself I hadn’t connected with in years.
So I picked up my paints again.
At first, it felt unfamiliar. But it didn’t take long to remember why I loved creating so much.
Something changed.
I felt lighter.
My anxiety didn’t feel so heavy.
The simple act of making something with my hands brought a sense of peace I hadn’t felt in a long time. It wasn’t about creating perfect artwork. It was about reconnecting with myself.
That experience became the beginning of Moon & Meadow.
Moon & Meadow exists for women who have spent years caring for everyone else and are finally ready to make a little space for themselves again.
It’s for the woman who keeps saying she’ll start when she has more time.
It’s for the woman who thinks she isn’t talented enough.
It’s for the woman who believes she needs all the right supplies before she can begin.
It’s for the woman who has forgotten that joy is reason enough.
Here, creativity isn’t limited to painting or drawing.
Maybe your creativity looks like gardening.
Maybe it’s crocheting.
Maybe it’s learning an instrument, baking bread, writing stories, sewing, photography, or something entirely your own.
Creativity isn’t about producing something perfect.
In fact, I think perfection is often what keeps us stuck.
The most beautiful things are often imperfect.
The sketchbook with messy pages.
The handmade quilt with uneven stitches.
The garden that grows a little wild.
The painting that doesn’t turn out exactly as planned.
These things hold life, personality, and meaning.
My hope is that Moon & Meadow becomes a place where women feel permission to create without pressure. A place where they remember that they don’t need to earn joy. They don’t need to be experts. They don’t need expensive supplies.
They simply need to begin.
If you’ve been feeling the pull to create something, anything, I hope you’ll listen to it.
Not because you need to become an artist.
Not because you need to turn it into a business.
But because the things that bring us joy matter.
Moon & Meadow exists because I believe it’s never too late to return to yourself.
And sometimes, picking up a paintbrush, a crochet hook, a garden trowel, or an instrument is really about much more than creating something.
Sometimes it’s about finding yourself again.
Welcome to Moon & Meadow.
I’m so glad you’re here.
